    Ron Coons of Catamount Consulting presents "A Safety Cultre"

    Crossing the Cultural Chasm: Turning your safety and health erforts into a mass movement

    Mass movements…. Turn on the news and you will see movements happening all around the globe.  How is it that various groups of people can join together and move towards a cause and yet we as safety professionals can’t get our employees to embrace a safer work environment even when the advantages and benefits of doing so are so obvious?

    A theory discovered more than half a century ago tells us not only why there is resistance to our efforts but also shows us how to get the mass majority of employees to willingly join the movement we have been wanting to create.

    The Law of Diffusion of Innovation was discovered more than sixty years ago and while it has been utilized mostly with an inclination towards marketing, it can be applied to nearly all aspects of industry, especially when it comes to the cultural challenges facing the safety and health industry.

    In the short time we have together we will discuss;

    • Why some ideas spread and why yours may not

    • The five characteristics of an appealing idea

    • Defining and creating effective communication channels

    • 5-Step Process for decreasing uncertainty about the consequences of your safety movement

    • How to identify the five adopter categories in your company’s social system

    • What tools can you use to keep your safety team engaged on your journey towards the tipping point

    • How to cross the cultural chasm – Going from a select few who support you to a mass majority that will drive your safety program to heights never imagined before.

    MHHRA will be doing a 50/50 raffle to support the SHRM Foundation. The SHRM Foundation is dedicated to fostering the development of HR professionals through scholarship programs and research funding. The Foundation awards more than 200 scholarships annually, providing HR practitioners opportunities to earn certifications and pursue graduate or undergraduate degrees.
