Each Spring, MHHRA sponsors students to participate in the HR Games. This exciting academic competition allows students to answer human resource questions over several rounds in a Jeopardy style game show format. Participants compete against other colleges in the Northeast Regional HR Games. The HR Games is a fun way for students who are interested in a career in human resources to prepare for certification exams, learn about HR outside of the classroom, and display their knowledge to HR practitioners.
“The benefits of the HR Games are students learn key HR terms and concepts and become conversant in HR terminology. It shows future employers that they have initiative and that they are knowledgeable in the subject matter areas of HR. They also have an opportunity to compete against other skilled teams and an opportunity to work in a high-pressure setting as they play the games.”- Kristin Backhaus, Advisor of the SUNY New Paltz Management Association
“Competing in the HR Games gave me a chance to see how I compared to other students in some very good schools like Penn State. Preparing for the games helped me to gain a lot of knowledge about HR and reinforce many things that I had previously learned."- Jeff Katz
“By participating in the HR Games, I was able to fine-tune my knowledge of the HR profession, taking it a step further than other students studying HR. My understanding of HR terms and concepts became clearer.”- John Fragale
“Taking part in the HR Games was a great experience. Doing this requires you to learn such a large amount of information in a short period of time, but the knowledge gained helps in every class. This knowledge and experience is something I will be able to use in my future career."- Danielle Glendenning
“The HR Games gave me a great opportunity to increase my knowledge of human resources while having fun at the same time! As a graduating senior who is considering a career in HR, this was an extremely beneficial experience for me and I will never forget it.”- Nicole Giordano
"Preparing for and attending the HR Games was a great experience that really showed me the value of teamwork, cooperation, and determination. It gave me the opportunity to meet new people, build relationships, and demonstrate what I learned to other students and HR professionals. The HR Games and Conference was truly an invaluable experience that not only helped me as a student, but as an individual entering the workplace. I am proud to say that I represented SUNY New Paltz in this competition."- Julie Lieberman
