    Diversity and Inclusion
Presented by: Susan M. Corcoran, Principal, Jackson Lewis

Please join us for this panel discussion on Diversity and Inclusion

HR professionals are supposed to understand the “legal boundaries” of when they are supposed to engage in interactive discussions in the workplace. Employers also expect HR professionals to communicate in an extraordinary range of situations. These may include: briefing the CEO on a bedbug crisis; gently explaining to an employee that she smells bad; listening to a furious employee who has been suspended; and conducting an investigation into allegations of harassment are only a few - and sometimes all in one day. This skills-based discussion is designed to hone your ability to adapt your communication style to be most effective, efficient, and professional.  Susan Corcoran, Principal of Jackson Lewis, P.C. and Deborah Pagnotta, JD, CEO and Founder of DiversityDNA and Interfacet, will present an interesting, interactive presentation, providing practical advice and the legal “why’s” when handling challenging situations.

Presenter: Susan M. Corcoran is a Principal in the White Plains, New York, office of Jackson Lewis, P.C. Ms. Corcoran is a seasoned employment counselor and litigator and is often thought of as the “go to” person on national workplace law issues for her clients. She is one of the leaders of the firm’s Background Check Resource Group, and serves as a resource on fair credit reporting act issues, as well as “ban the box” strategies. She taught a graduate employment law class for many years at Manhattanville College and frequently speaks before different groups on a variety of workplace law issues. She had recently served two terms as NYS SHRM Legislative Director, successfully participating in lobbying efforts to overturn New York’s annual WTPA notice requirement. Within Jackson Lewis, she has been a leader in the firm’s diversity initiatives by acting as co-chair of its Women’s Interest Network (“WIN”). Ms. Corcoran is passionate about community service and her pro bono work.
